ABSTRACT

In this study, the mediating role of psychological capital in the effect of managers’ ethical leadership behaviours on employees’ work engagement, life satisfaction and psychological well-being was examined. In this direction, the relationships between the variables are theoretically discussed within the framework of the views in the relevant literature. In the empirical research part of the study, on the one hand, the relationship between the variables was investigated; on the other hand, it was examined whether psychological capital, which is thought to affect this relationship, has a mediating role. In order to test the research model, the data obtained from 301 participants by face-to-face survey method were evaluated. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that managers’ ethical leadership behaviours have a significant effect on employees’ work engagement, life satisfaction and psychological well-being and psychological capital plays a mediating role in this effect. It is considered that this study differs from other studies in the literature by proposing a model that reveals the mediating role of psychological capital in the effect of ethical leadership on employees’ work engagement, psychological well-being and life satisfaction, is original and contributes to the literature.
